Sable Marie is a 9 yr old youthful Gsd who is fully vetted, spayed and chipped.

Sable is a special girl who saved her owners life twice from a diabetic coma as she would alert him when his sugars would get low. Her master died and she now needs a home. She is a bit anxious but settles nicely. This was a dog who pretty much lived at home and she did not get out a lot so she is not going to be a dog you bring out in the community or beach. She has just never known that life. She whines on long car rides. She is a homebody girl. Needs leash work. Knows basic commands. Some thunder fear but she goes into the bathroom if she hears it and settles and lies down.

She is affectionate and greeted me warmly. She is a Velcro dog who likes to lie at your feet. She would be best as an only dog.
Has lived with Cats. Kids are an unknown. I think she would be fine with kids over 12. Likes to fetch her ball and loves to rip open wrapped doggie presents. She loves to watch tv programs with dogs on the tv!

Sable has EPI. An insufficient pancreatic enzyme disease Common in the Gsd breed. She has been very stable on her enzyme power for years. She gets it in her food. She has no diarrhea or vomiting. The powder costs 188.44 and lasts about 11 months Per owner.
She comes with almost a years supply of the powder.

I have all her vet records and her microchip info. She is in foster currently.
- Impeccable house manners. No issues whatsoever.
- Rides well in car. Sits in front passenger floor.
- Comes when her name is said, sits, lies down with direction.
- Loves her kennel. Keep door open and often naps in it. Sleeps in it at night and without a sound.
- Loves to play with her toys, especially rubber balls. Not possessive of toys or food.
- Perfect leash walker and loves her walks.
- Loves a swimming pool. Frequently sits with her butt on the pool deck and front paws on the first step. Hasn’t gone swimming,
- Gentle eater; never begs for food
- Bright eyes, engaging personality and seems very happy and content. Never demanding.
- Needs to be only pet – unhappy and will bark when we encounter a dog. Easily redirected by saying her name and changing direction or crossing street.
- Very friendly with other people. Hasn’t been around children so don’t know about that.
- Loves to be brushed and literally goes into a trance LOL

3/13/18 Foster update

Sable is a wonderful, sweet, affectionate dog. But after a long life of no socializing with other dogs she is still somewhat reactive on leash when we pass by dogs.
I have taken her to highly populated areas where there where lots of dogs and about 8 out of 10 times she walks by and doesn’t bark. Usually a quick correction with prong collar is all she needs. Otherwise she will let out a bark.

Lastly she has begun to bark and chase my cats so a cat free home.
Sable would thrive in a home in a quiet neighborhood where she can take a short stroll or a home with a fenced in yard where she doesn’t encounter lots of dogs. This was a dog owned by a homebody so sable is very much a homebody too. She loves ball play and toys and is very youthful.
Please give this beautiful dog a home!
