THE PARTY IN THE PARK

Diane and I recently participated in the AWL Party in the Park at Lashley Park Punta Gorda. This was the 4th annual Party which drew over 650 dogs and helped AWL get some needed revenue.
About 15 of those dogs who came were dogs from our Rescue. Many of these dogs were adopted out this year and to see them was truly a thrill. It is an unbelievable feeling to see dogs that you have saved blossom in their new homes and with their new owners. We know when seeing these dogs after some time that all the work we put into what we do is worthwhile.
We saw Trixie who broke our heart when she first came with no fur, heart worm and no training and in truly terrible shape. Trixie now is full grown, trained, obedient, healthy and absolutely gorgeous. She could be a show dog anywhere. She was trained by eleven year old Stewart, the son of her owner. She was one of our last dogs our in 2009. Seeing her in all her splendor truly gave us chills.
We saw Minka whose adoptive parents got her to be best pals with their bloodhound and now is the happiest girl in the world.
There were 15 such dogs who visited us and each one was a special event. We are also going to be at the Cancer event also in Lashley Park 2/16… see you there.
