MATTIS NEEDS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY Another black dog just came into the rescue. His name is Mattis, formerly Officer Mattis, as he was a K9 SNIFFER for the last 8 years. He is a fabulous boy. He is super kid friendly, highly ball motivated, obedient, still able to sniff out a 'joint' or track a person and very people and dog friendly. He was retired this year and his handler could not keep him. He is 'a porker', 25 pounds over weight. He does love to run, hops easily into then truck, takes commands from his 4 yr old buddy and is utd on shots, neutered and housebroken and crate trained. His whole story is on the website. He is ready to go to the right home immediately. He was never a K9 patrol dog and has absolutely no aggression at all, nor was he trained as a patrol dog. he has always been a tracker and drug dog. Although it is typical for a handler to take his dog privately when the dog retires, in this case the family was just not able to do that. He is about 125 pounds and needs to lose weight.
