JADE NEEDS AHOME JADE is now available for adoption. Although we are not yet back open, Jade was a dog we adopted out previously and therefore I am putting her on line as available.
Jade is a very happy go lucky energetic puppy-like dog. Not quite three years old and has no signs of growing up yet! She loves to investigate everything, and wants to be involved in whatever you am doing. Her owner wrote " If I’m building a new shelf, she’s happy to lay right on the cardboard boxes or add a toy to the project. She loves treat toy games and has several favorites like a muffin tin full of tennis ball, with little treats hidden only under a few of the balls. She also likes to pick which hand you are hiding a treat in."
She’s not big on playing fetch, and usually only brings a ball or frisbee back once, then goes somewhere to chew on the toy. Strangely enough, she plays fetch in the house, down a hall, with a stuffed toy. She loves all kinds of balls and squeaky toys, and toys she can shake around vigorously. And she likes to play tug, a lot. She also wants a toy in the car to chew on. Not real destructive with toys, and loves her monthly Barkbox.
Jade is used to being with someone almost all the time. She comes with me to my studio every day, where she just hangs out. She has a crate there that she goes into when she wants her breakfast, or just to take a nap. She pretty much follows me to whatever room I’m in, and lays down there until I move again. She still likes to eat in her crate, with the door open, and is used to having a quiet time after breakfast and dinner.
She loves to sleep belly up, usually with her hind feet resting on a wall or piece of furniture. She is a great sleeper at night, in her crate, which she prefers. In the evening, she comes to me and paws my leg until I ask her if she’s ready for bed, then she trots off to her bed while I get her bedtime vitamins. She sleeps until I get her up in the morning.
Jade is a very sweet, good natured dog with a strong will. She loves meeting people on walks, and is finally learning not to jump up when she gets so excited. She loves leash walks when she can stop and sniff everything.
She loves all kinds of treats, and is not a fussy eater. She is a solid 90 lbs and everyone at the vet’s office thinks she’s the sweetest German Shepherd they see!
Jade is being relinquished because she is too much dog for the owner. She needs a bit of leash training and definitely recall training as she will chase a rabbit on a moments notice. She is great with dogs and has gotten her canine good citizen. She has gone through lots of training and is a great family dog for people that can handle her. I recommend a strong alpha in the home to get her settled down.
