WINNIE HAS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY

UPDATE WINNIE IS BEING FOSTERED TO ADOPT. IF THAT CHANGES WE WILL REPOST WINNIE NEEDS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY WINNIE came into rescue 6/20 and was being fostered along with her brother Ollie in Sarasota.  Winnie is a black GSD on the smaller side, about 60 pounds. She is spayed and has all shots and a chip.
Winnie is the alpha in the group. She seems to basically dictate what Ollie, her brother can and cannot do such as leaving her side. She was bonded to him but we know from experience that she can be separated and things will be OK after a few days of trauma on his part and then acceptance of the new situation and everyone moves on. She was rehomed and did well in leaving her brother but she did not take well to the woman in the home but liked the male better. In her first foster she was equally as enamored with both male ands female. Winnie was definitely owned by a family in the Miami area and then dumped on the street, which is normal for that part of the state. They were taken in by a kind and caring family who had them for a few weeks and attempted in every way to find the owners. Since the boy (Ollie) was chipped, they sought the owner by that registration. It turned out the chip was never registered and that lead went cold. They advertised the dog repeatedly but no one came forward, hence they came here. She appears the be housebroken. They are dog and people friendly and are a very handsome couple.  Of course you can never guaranty that ever dog will like every person, but in any adoption we will bring in the family and make sure everyone is compatible.  We recommend a family without little kids and a family (or single adult) that is accustomed to a GSD and has the alpha personality to control and train her.  She is housebroken, obedient and affectionate once she gets to know you which takes a few minutes, but she comes around nicely with treats and soft talk.
