THERE WILL BE A FEE INCREASE FOR ADOPTIONS BEGINNING 6/1/2018 FROM 295 TO $350. Erik Hoffer

IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION ON FEE INCREASE:
As we approach our 12th year in rescue with over 1000 German Shepherd dogs re-homed, it is now time for us to reassess our operating costs. SOUTHWEST FLORIDA GSD RESCUE will increase our adoption fees from $295 to $350 beginning June 1st 2018.
Our adoption fees cover each dog being spayed or neutered, given all shots, heartworm tested and treated if positive. These costs alone, if done privately, would be in excess of $600, minimum.
This increase is simply do to our costs for medical treatment of the dogs we accept in. We have experienced a radical increase in heartworm treatments for owner surrendered animals. The costs of heartworm meds and treatment for rescue animals is exceptionally high. Our operating costs for food, transport and medical care is also increasing to a point where our fees can no longer offset our expenses. Although we do get a discount from the clinic we use, our volume has increased and our revenue has not kept up.
I know that there are many of you that contribute to other National animal groups like ASPCA and national Humane Societies. These organizations barely use 10% for animal care and 90% for organizational costs such as their gut wrenching ads, overhead and salaries. In my 30 years in rescue, both here and in NJ, I have never in my life seen 5 cents used in local shelters or rescues by these Foundations.

We use 100% of collected revenue for animal care and zero for anything else. Please consider our Rescue as a tax deductible 501C3, before you donate money outside this area. Please make out checks to GULF COAST HUMANE SOCIETY. Make sure you put SWFLGSDRESCUE ON THE MEMO LINE so it goes into our medical fund. Please mail donations to Southwest Florida German Shepherd Rescue 24156 Yacht Club Blvd Punta Gorda FL 33955. If you wish to contribute by CC we will soon have that option on line.
We will continue our mission to rescue German Shepherd Dogs and to place these great animals with fabulous families in great homes.
