ZEN AKA BIG BEN HAS A NEW HOME AND CARING FAMILY ZEN was turned over to use yesterday. He is in somewhat bad shape. His owner is as close to an animal abuser as one can be without being adjudicated one by the court system. He weighs about 75 pounds and is 20 pounds underweight for his size and frame. Zen really doesn't even know his name which tells me that he was ignored for years. His toenails were left untrimmed for at least a year and he was starving and full of fleas when he arrived. He is HW Neg which is remarkable and quite fortunate for him.
Zen was bathed, nails cut (to a point) and deflead as well as given all shots which he had not had in quite some time. He is a big old boy who is a super love. He is extremely food and treat oriented and responds well to touch, handling and did fabulous with his shots, bath and trim.
Zen is an 8 year old neutered male black and tan classic GSD. He is affectionate and sweet with people, dog ,rabbits (we tested him with them) and cats. He has no aggression we can see, just a desire to be petted and loved.
Zen should have his name changed because he deserves better. He needs a loving maybe somewhat older family who will care for him in his senior years. He reminds Diane and i of our EBO who was EXACTLY LIKE HIM. When we got EBO he was 10 and lasted 4.5 years with us. He was one of the most fabulous dogs i ever had, and I have had a lot of GSD';s. He loved life, us, walks, swimming, our pack and our cats. We called him the rug because when people came here to see us for interviews he would lay at their feet and just be handsome. He was as big as ZEN and equally as beautiful a soul as ZEN. I miss him.
If you are seeking a smart handsome big old boy to love you and to care for, please give Zen a chance at a new life. Zen is in foster in Ft Myers in a great home with loving people who will care for him until he is adopted.

ZEN WHO IS NOW BEING CALLED BIG BEN is doing fantastic in his foster. We have had 2 quality inquiries on him and we are hopeful that in the next week or so he can find his forever home.
