MAXX NUMBER 4 HAS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY HE IS GOING TO BE ADOPTED OUT THROUGH GULF COAST HUMANE. MAXX4 came to us originally from LCDAS and was then transferred over to GCHS where he was recovering from his neuter operation. He became available Saturday 12/24/16 and was quickly adopted by a member of law enforcement. When Max4 was put into training as a pet he proved to be extremely challenging and became aggressive with other dogs. He was returned by the owner because of that. He is basically untrained and because of his age, size, temperament and lack of social skills is a difficult dog to get in the green zone where training and behavior modification becomes possible.
Maxx4 is a large, strong highly active black and tan GSD. He is about 1 year old and has had no socialization or training but is extremely affectionate with people. If not handled well or in the case of his first adopter, a person unable to turn him, he can become a disaster. with the wrong owner he could own you in a few days time. He is a high energy dog that needs to work. He could be effective at anything such as ball, frisbee, swimming or scenting. he has had no real training and is rather a big oaf with no manners. He could be housebroken but we are unsure as he was a street stray when he was first picked up. He has been tested with people where he does very well but has reactivity to other dogs which is being worked on now. With the right trainer and environment he could be excellent bit for now he is a ditzy unmannered puppy that has no clue about his size or 80# weight. He will probably be a 95 pound dog who has to be handled by a person understanding how to deal with a big dog. Je is sweet with people, a bit mouthy but otherwise no more than a normal puppy. He is a beautiful dog with good hips and fur and with work can be a great dog. He will be a difficult adoption but because of his issues we have chosen not to take him into our rescue abut rather leave him at GCH in the hopes a person may see him there or read this and adopt him. I breaks my heart t see a beautiful animal languish in a kennel but when owners get these dogs and fail to socialize them, you get what Max4 has become.... a difficult dog.
