HARPER NEEDS A NEW FAMILY HARPER is a 4-5 year old black and tan female GSD/ She is HW Neg, spayed, chipped, housebroken and loving. When she was originally rescued she was HW pos and she has since been treated and is now heartworm free. She has a fabulous temperament and gets on well with cats and other dogs. She was rescued by a family from a northern shelter who then tried to integrate her into their home with their border collie. These two dogs just never bonded and maybe because they were not properly introduced or it may be that they, as individuals, were just not compatible. Regardless, they are not suited for living with one another and she needs to be re-homed as she was second into the home. Harper is a people and dog friendly dog. She is trained, but of course needs one on one training with her new owners which is a requirement of our rescue. She does pull a bit on a leash but with a prong collar she is fine. She does love to run, so if you are a jogger or runner and want a companion she is a perfect dog for you. Harper is a smaller female weighing in at about 50ish pounds and will not get any bigger. She is beautiful with a clean saddle and soft fur. She does like cats and lives with 2 of them as you can see in a photo. If you wish to see her and want to come tomorrow evening to our home (for already vetted families) then you should reach out to me at 941 740 0074 to set up an appointment to meet her. The owner wrote this about her:
As you can see, she is good with other animals. However, since she recovered from her heartworm treatments, she has been a lot more energetic and less passive, which does not mesh well with the border collie's dominant and obsessive personality.

Harper is very friendly, sweet, and active. She understands basic commands and enjoys going on runs. She is not a good swimmer, but is happy being out in boats and kayaks (and can wear a life jacket). She can be a bit unfocused and needs additonal training, but she is eager to please.
