JUMPIN' JACK FLASH HAS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY COMING TOMORROW TO PICK HIM UP Jack, as we named him, was abandoned by some moron when she sold her home in the Washington Loop area of Punta Gorda. Jack was simply left in the yard as they loaded up their moving van and left the state. These people did not socialize Jack but they did have kids and he is a gentle but scared young dog.
We believe that Jack is about 2-3. He is a semi long hair black GSD who has never been walked on a leash in his life. We have NOT been able to even put a collar on him for the past 3 weeks until 12/30/15, when we finally got him to wear one. When he was running wild on the property he never had a lead nor was he contained in any way. He has had some training but nothing that has stuck and certainly just learned his tricks OJT. Jack became super friendly with the carpenter on the property doing renovations and was finally able to be crated and then we were able to pick him up. The new family was not interested in taking him and he was clearly a nuisance top them, He will be treated for any issues he has by our vet and be neutered in the coming weeks, but for now we are just trying to become his friend. He is living in our office and in our play yard where he is safe and secure. He has met our pack and was basically calm and submissive with them. He is a sweet dog and is in no way aggressive or intimidating. He is totally housebroken and yet quite fearful of new people. He has turned out to be a lover not a fighter and wants so very much to be touched by Diane and I but is just unsure of where he is, who we are and why he was abandoned. He has now come around with me and allows me to brush him and cuddle him yet with Diane ad most everyone else he is still quite aloof.
Jack weighs about 80 pounds and is a full grown in-tact male. We do not know if he has heart worm or much about him until we get him under control. He seems cat friendly but has an interest in them such that we have limited his exposure to our cats. Since he lived with cats he seems 90% OK. He is extremely goat friendly as the family goat was his best buddy. We didn't take the goat. Jack has had no training but we are confident that with our care he will become responsive to us enough for us to get under control.
Jack from what we know needs to live on a farm where he can interact with people as he sees fit and has the run of the place. He can come in at night and be affectionate but he will probably not be a typical family GSD. He is quite aloof and not at all responsive to people he doesn't know.
If you want a challenge and Jack is a challenge please let us know and you can come meet Jack asap.
