SWEET LEXI 2 NEEDS A GREAT NEW HOME AND OWNER!!
UPDATE LEXI IS FAR BETTER IN A HOME WHERE THERE ARE NO OTHER FEMALE OR ALPHA MALE DOGS. SHE IS VERY NEEDY FOR ATTENTION AND DOES NOT SHARE HER PEOPLE WELL. SHE LIKES OTHER DOGS WHEN THEY ARE NOT LIVING WITH HER WHICH IS WHY SHE WAS RETURNED. Lexi number 2 was turned over to us on 10/19/15 from a great young family who just can no longer care for her the way they want to. With small children and the burdens of juggling work and kids, lexi was not getting the attention she so deserved and needed. They know re-homing her is the best thing for her at this time.
Lexi has been in 2 homes, one with a male and one with a female dog. Unfortunately Lexi is an alpha female and cannot have any other dogs in the home as she just cannot accept them as room mates. On the street and in the yard she is a gem, but living with another pet is NOT RECOMMENDED FOR HER.
Lexi is a 3.5 year old black and tan female GSD weighing 72 pounds. She is spayed, HW Neg, up to date on all shots and was cared for perfectly by her owners. She is trained and is a runner companion and primarily a house dog. She is sweet to people and other dogs on the street of in a dog park or beach but does not want to live with other pets. She did live with a young male GSD as well, but should be in a single dog household now. I tested her with Rudy, my test dog, and she was letter perfect but when in the same home with other animals she becomes aggressive toward other dogs as she wants to be in charge and get all of the affection.. Lexi weighs about 72 pounds and is solid muscle. She readily seeks out attention and is perfect with kids and people. She has no hang ups for noise, men, thunder or other common distractions. She is not destructive and fully housebroken and crate trained.
Lexi is a great find for a single dog household.
Since Lexi was re-homed a few times i wanted to share what her last family said about her. She is currently in a foster and doing quite well.
Good Afternoon,
In the few days Lexi was in our home she proved to be an absolute sweetheart. She knows sit, down, stay and recall. Although she does need a refresher course as you have suggested. We had our neighbor and her two teenage daughters come to visit and she was so thrilled to have company. She ran and got her toy and wanted them to play with her. The next night a friend came over with her daughter and her fiancé. Once again she was overjoyed to have company and was friendly and affectionate to all. She likes all the attention you are willing to give her. We spent a lot of time in my yard throwing the ball which she had so much fun retrieving. She runs like the wind. (She does need a little practice on giving it back but knows what she is supposed to do.)
My husband is disabled due to a brain tumor and very heavy and has breathing problems. For some unknown reason she tended to be afraid of him, but I saw absolutely no other quirks in her personality. She would make a fabulous companion for someone who can give her the exercise and attention she so deserves. In the evening while we watched TV she curled up on her bed in the family room and slept. At bedtime she happily went into the bedroom and slept in her crate, open door, beside me all night until I told her it was time to get up. She didn’t need the crate but chose to sleep in it. I hope she finds a forever home as I know she will make a some lucky family a great companion.
Thank you for all the good work you do in finding homes for these dogs.
