SWEET ZZ WAS UNABLE TO SUSTAIN A QUALITY OF LIFE AND WE HAVE HUMANELY PUT HER TO SLEEP. These decisions do not come easily and are truly gut wrenching for us and for all the people who did their best to try ans save her. i thank Jima dn Gaye for their compassion and love and honesty. ZZ Came into uis from a truly fabulous woman in Miami. ZZ was picked up by her last Saturday night while returning from work. She was soaking wet, shivering and scared., She was covered with over 250 ticks, emaciated and proved to have heart worm and a URI. ZZ came to her immediately and hop[ed in the car with her last ounce of strength. Her new benefactor took her home, cleared most of the ticks, fed her and as she was a vet tech, took her to work with her to get her tested. She was able to determine that she did have heart worm, the severity of which is yet undetermined. She is also super malnourished and was apparently used as a breeding bitch by some bastard in Miami then dumped on the street. She had been caged for quite some time and she has atrophy in her read legs from lack of exercise. That said, she was brought to us for help.
Because this woman was such a kind and caring person, we decided to take ZZ in our rescue.
We took her into our hospital yesterday where we treated her for her emergent needs and we have been fortunate enough to find a fabulous family to help foster her during this trying period. ZZ is a fighter and she will surely make it, if we have anything to do about it. Her weaken state precludes us from doing a spay and definitely not doing her heart worm treatment. That entire operation may take as much as 3 months of time for her to recover.
ZZ needs your prayers and if you wish to donate anything to her care, that would be appreciated as her recover meds and operations will be close to $1000 when we are done.
ZZ is a 3-5 year old black and tan female GSD. She weighs about 55 pounds now and she is 20 pounds underweight. She is super sweet. She likes other dogs and kids and even cats as she was tested with all 3 for 3 days while in the home of the lady who saved her.
She is not ready to be adopted but she is going on the site because exposure to this type of thing is critical for us and to show people what animal cruelty is all about. If you are interested in helping ZZ out in any way, both financial and emotional please let us know. Whwn she is ready to be adopted we will post that on this site.
