HANDSOME MAX HAS A HOME AND FAMILY

MAX HAS A NEW FAMILY Mighty MAX NEEDS A FAMILY TO CALL HIS OWN.
Max came from a home where he was loved but in a different way. He was never abused but never trained. He is housebroken but had no obedience training WHICH MAKES HIM A VERY UNMANAGEABLE DOG WHEN IT COMES TO OBEDIENCE. He is responsive to corrections if given by a person who he respects, but he is a teenagers with lots of testosterone and feels he is in charge. He is crate trained and loves kids but again cannot be placed with young children at all because he is still mouthy and does not take direction. He was purchased by a person who knew nothing about dogs (especially this breed) and given to a person who never wanted a dog of any breed. He, in-turn, gave the dog to his son who is 10 years old son and told him to care for the dog and to train the dog and that would make a man of him.... that said you can understand that handsome Max just lived with the kid and in the home but danced to his own tune. The owner was obviously a true idiot but they are out there and they can still buy dogs. When he wasn't dragging the kid around he was doing whatever he wanted to because the boy was considered a sibling and he became in charge.
Max was adopted to a nice family but he was way too much for them. He was involved with 2 separate 'bite' incidents both of which were caused by his unruliness and both were probably avoidable but did happen. He was then returned and confined for 10 days as a safety precaution. We took him back and he has been in foster care for a week. Our trainer Michelle Delaney in Naples had him and reported that he is, as previously stated, a big oaf who doesn't have any manners inside or outside the home and is in dire need of strong training and a strong leader. HE IS NOT FOR EVERY FAMILY. HE IS A DOG THAT REQUIRES DEDICATION TO A YEAR OF FOCUSED TRAINING IN OBEDIENCE TO NOT ONLY GET HIS ENERGY LEVEL DOWN BUT TO GET HIM UNDER CONTROL. He does jump which is something I never saw. He is mouthy but was not to me. He does NOT LIKE YELLING AND RESPONDS NEGATIVELY TO THAT FORM OF CORRECTION, HENCE TRAINING IS ESSENTIAL.
He is now back in our care at our N Ft Myers Kennel and has been exposed to socialization and obedience training on a part time basis. He is doing quite well but needs to be in a home with 24/7 monitoring. He is a social dog who loves people and enjoys having fun and activities. He needs to know who controls play and who is alpha and none of them are him. He is immediately friendly and engaged with everyone and every dog and cat and, although he has no formal training, He does come up to you and politely gives you a 'nose of recognition' and a quick rub to show you he is super friendly. He is a shoe sitter and will sit on your foot right away. He loves being petted. He is somewhat mouthy and will open his mouth on or near you so any owner has to be on guard so as not t get scratched. he does not close his mouth on you. He started pulling me and that lasted 30 seconds and now he knows not to pull but with ANY NEW HANDLER HE IS A MAJOR PULLER AND HAS TO BE ON A PROG OR EVEN AN ELECTRIC COLLAR.
He is a 1 year old, neutered male and weighs 100 pounds 10 of which is puppy fat that can be quickly burned off. He is HW Negative and has all shots and he is chipped.
Max is a classic black and tan male GSD whose stature and facial appearance are the epitome of the breed.
He is a classic dog with a tremendous disposition and carries himself like a champion. If Max appears to be the dog of your dreams, call me for an appointment to get your interview done so you can meet him nose to nose.
