INGRATE PEOPLE NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE ME AMAZED AT PEOPLE

The other day I received a call from a woman in the Tampa area who said she had called around and no one could help her re-home her gsd 3 year old dog. I told her I would certainly help and that all she had to do was bring the dog to me. I asked for medical records, a few photos and details on the dog. It was a 3 year old GSD female spayed in good health.
She called me back and we texted a few times, all the while assuring me of her need and thanking me that I was able and willing to step up when all of the others she called said no room or no way. She needed immediate action because the owner had died and she was moving to LA.
I arranged the meeting for tomorrow 5/21/15 for the rehoming and adoption and was all set to take the dog. I made arrangements to find a home for her and set up the meeting with the new adopter. I vetted the adopter and organized the meeting. I told her to send me an email so I could give her the forms to fill out and explained our charges of $225 for a neutered or spayed pet. She assured me that was fine and the dog was already up to date on shots and spayed.
I never received the photos which began to worry me, since most people who call me lie about their pets in one way or another. I asked her about the dogs temperament and was assured it was perfect.
Today I called again and was told that there were actually 2 dogs, one a female GSD and the other a 10 year old Bassethound. Even though I was shocked at the second dog, I called around and found a placement for that dog as well. About 5 pm I get a text saying that she refuses to pay us any fees and does not feel that we should collect money from her regardless of the fact we are taking in her dog, becoming responsible for its well being, having a kennel, feeding rescues, spending money on medical expenses et al...as well as having spent 3 hours finding an adopter and a placement for the second dog and did all of that sight un-seen, as she refused to send photos or records, fill out forms or confirm a time she was able to come.
The part that amazes me is the fact that people in general think rescues work on zero dollars yet they donate to bull shit TV solicitations where 95% of the collections goes into someone’s pocket and no animals get helped. Awareness is created through these ads and then once the money is collected, nothing gets done. The fact that people donate to them pisses me off no end; but then to hear from a person, I am busting my hump for, say that she does not donate to rescues because she volunteered at one once, is the icing on the cake. People, if you think rescues don’t need your financial help you are dead wrong! If you think we don’t deserve funding when we are working for YOU and the PET, then take your animal to the freaking pound and let the good folks at these county run institutions put the animals down as they do every 5-10 days and don’t call rescues. If you feel we are worthless don't get a freaken pet in the first place and then don't dump it on someone else when you are done with them, and lastly don't make your problem theirs!
I find ingrates to be far too common and the more I get exposed to them the more I love animals and hate asshole people.

HERE IS ANOTHER ONE:

Saturday I received a call from a police officer in N. Miami area of FL. He says a person found a dog at their business and wants to bring him to me. Nice looking dog from his photos. I tell them that I am 3 hours away from there but Sunday would be fine to bring to dog. I make the arrangements to receive the dog at 10am as instructed by the person bring him. I have a foster her to house him and I see that it's 11 am and no dog. I send a text to the man who was supposed to bring him here and get a reply from that asshoke to go screw myself. This tells you that when i say i don't wish to take dogs from Miami that there is ample reason to say so. I called the officer and tell him what the guy wrote back to me in Spanish. He is amazed at the arrogance but unsurprised. He said he has been a cop there for 13 years and sees this type of thing all of the time. People never cease to amaze me. We have no idea what happened with the dog. Still later on Sunday i receive a call from a woman in Miami who claims she found a dog at her home. She has 3 dogs and cannot keep him. He is of course a GSD. I tell her to see if he is chipped so that he can be returned to the irresponsible owner who probably dumped him. She says she will do that through the emergency vet who is open Sunday and then drive to me. I call her at 4pm asking where she is and the reply is never mind, I gave the dog the the vet. Of course she never called nor was there any effort to communicate. The culture there in Miami astounds me in its arrogance and callousness.
