DUKE HAS A GREAT NEW HOME AND FAMILY Duke came to us today 3/20 after being dumped in sarasota County. He was owned by a person who, after finding him, decided he no longer wanted Duke and relinquished him to SC DAS and then they to us. Duke is currently in foster in Englewood and is doing fantastic.
Duke is a 95 pound big boy. He is a brown in color and neutered. This color GSD is unusual as we have only had one other like him in 8 years. He has a light sable coat but no saddle. He has a beautiful face and velvet muzzle. He is super sweet, loves people, cats and small dogs and playing ball. He is neutered and will get his final shot and chip next Tuesday at AWL. Duke got his bath today 3/20 and loved it. When he first met me he gave me his belly in under 1 minute and loved his bath, rubs and drying. He is very playful and engaged. He loves to platy ball with kids and spent quite some time with a friends grand daughter (9 years old) and had a blast. He may have come from a home with a young child. He likes to swim and he can't get enough attention and human companionship. One of our trainers John worked with him today along side his 9 year grand daughter and they were amazed at his friendliness and love for kids and strangers. He walks well on a leash and is somewhat trained but needs to be refocused to any new adopters. He does know sit, come and down and kennel but is so anxious to play that he does it and then looks for a new task to do. He so wants to please you! He was never abused and would be great with any family including other dogs and small kids. Duke is 4 years old and in terrific shape with good hips, coat and tremendous temperament. he is a calm dog. Duke will be available immediately.... so don't wait ... this is a great family dog.
DOGGY UPDATE FROM HIS FOSTER HOME:
Update on duke in foster care:
Duke is a great dog. Sound temperament. He is in his prime and needs daily walks. He has only been with me 1 day and already I can trust him to be loose in my home. He is not destructive, gets along with my bratty temperamental little dogs, my sweet shy german Shepard, my very old collie and he has no interest in my cats.
Duke is very happy, sweet, loves affection and is somewhat trained. He needs some retraining, consistency and exercise to drain his energy. I agree with Erik, this is a great family dog. His markings are beautiful, he doesn't have the usual dark saddle but a black undercoat beneath his tan fur giving him a lighter saddle look.
Thanks,
Shari
