HANDSOME PUDGE NEEDS A HOME
We have some feedback from our foster: Well after 5 days this dog just gets better and better. He is such an easy keeper. He eats well, walks with only a little pulling, loves to play and actively seeks us out for love and cuddling but he gives you enough space so he is not a Velcro dog. He is happy to lie in his bed when told to. He is 100% housebroken and crate trained. He is quiet and very well trained.
When does he need his sutures out?
Take care
Shari
I took Pudge in 2/12/15 from a shelter where he was being housed and would have been euthanized. He didn't like being there in a big way so we got him out just in time as his time was up.
Pudge is a 90 pound solid sable male GSD. He was neutered Wednesday at the AWL. He received all of his shots and he is HW POS. He is scheduled to be treated for HW in 3 weeks from today 3/15/15 after which he needs to rest 4 to 5 weeks before resuming a full life. If you need info on Heart worm it is available on the net. It is a totally curable disease but its cure is costly and the dog needs 4-5 weeks of rest, meaning no ball or exercise that would make the dog pant, otherwise normal activities are fine indoors.
Pudge is a well trained dog. Someone spent the time needed on him to get him totally leash trained, crate trained, we think housebroken and dog friendly. He has proven to be OK with other dogs he meets but is RESOURCE GUARDER FOR THINGS. WE KNOW THIS BECAUSE HE IS BEING FOSTERED NOW AND WE ARE WATCHING HIS REACTIONS WITH DOGS AND CATS CLOSE;LY. He is people friendly and seeks attention from humans immediately. He loves to fetch a ball and to be walked and he loves affection. I gave him a chilly bath when he arrived and he stood there for it for 25 minutes. He liked being dried and snuggled in the towel. We put him through is paces upon his arrival and found him to be a responsive dog. He is somewhat intimidating looking at first glance but he is a good boy and he wants to please. We did see a very limited resource guard but that was after playing ball for 2 hours and I believe it was nothing to be concerned with as it didn't happen again.
Pudge needs a family and owner he can respect HE NEEDS A ONE DOG HOUSEHOLD WITH NO OTHER ANIMALS. He needs a firm yet loving leader and alpha personality so if you have never had a GSD this is not the dog for you. If you have had some Schutzund training experience, he is fantastic. He would go into our training classes immediately but that would be to bond and not to necessarily learn as he knows his commands by hand signals, German and English.
He is good with other dogs he meets, and he was totally not interested in cats unless they live with him and would come close to his toys or food. He is eager to get attention, loves and rubs from everybody and will be quite loyal. He does also have some fly bite dermatitis on his ear tips which will clear up but may not go away leaving a hairless spot on both ear tips. He has also been eating and chewing on rocks honing down some of his teeth. This is not a problem with his eating but it is something a potential adopter should know exists.
If Pudge is a dog that would fulfill your dream dog of a super male GSD, please call me as he is ready to go immediately. More pictures coming.
