KATE NEEDS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY. KATE IS SUITABLE TO BE AN OUTSIDE FAMILY DOG AND WE WOULD BE FINE WITH HER IN A FARM TYPE SITUATION
UPDATE; WE WERE JUST INFORMED BY THE ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER WHO HAS HER THAT THEY HAVE FOUND A LOCAL RESCUE IN BEVARD COUNTY TO TAKE HER.... WE WERE JUST NOW INFORMED THAT THEY DID NOT PULL HER SO SHE IS BACK AND AVAILABLE. We do not have Kate with us. She is being housed at a shelter and she is safe and well cared for. If a family wants to see her we would need a week's notice for her travel to be arranged.
Kate is a 70 pound 3 year old female black and tan GSD. She is spayed and chipped and she is up to date on all shots and heart worm negative.
Kate was owned by a family with kids but also had 2 other small dogs. Kate was living with them primarily as an outside dog, which is something we DO NOT CONDONE. The prior owners never trained or socialized her appropriately and she did get into it with her other smaller dogs. WE DO NOT RECOMMEND HER BE HOUSED WITH CATS OR ANY SMALL DOGS.
Upon her evaluation she was found to be great with people and sweet and calm, but as she lived outside, we do not think she is housebroken. She will need to be in training immediately to get her to understand house rules. She is easily trainable and responsive and she would be a tremendous dog in the right hands of an owner who will take the 6 months it needs to train her and teach her what she needs to know to become the dog she was meant to be.
Kate has the potential to succeed and we are confident in the right hands she will turn out to be a tremendous dog. If you feel you have a place for her, please call us to set up an appointment. She is currently in Bevard County and would have to be driven here, so please, only serious adopters should call us
"Her owner wrote this for us " she was purchased from a breeder, reason for surrender-behavior problems caused by her lack of training, She was kept outdoors only-lived in a dog house, she was never tied up or abused in any way. She has no experience with crate training, and she does not jump fences nor have any medical issues. She received routine veterinarian care, she does not like baths, is not sensitive to being touched anywhere. She lived in a home had four adults and five children between the ages of one and sixteen, "great with kids!
