Stubby has a forever home. Diane and i could not be more pleased that Mr Stubber found a great family to call his own. Stubby, as we have chosen to call him, for obvious reasons, is a great young dog! He is about 1 year old and he was neutered last week. "He don't know 'sit'"! as many dog owners would say, but he is surely velcro, sweet likes dogs and cats, I have worked with him now for 3 days and he comes when called, can't get enough love and affection, sits on command and walks perfectly on a leash. SMART DOG! He also did some training with Southwest Florida K9 Services located in Ft Myers. Rusty, the owner and head trainer graciously gave up his time to help Stubby learn the basics which i polished off here at the house. He does walk well on a leash from the left and is learning down next. He is treat responsive, likes to play ball, cant get enough rubbing ad attention and fits in the pack seamlessly. Stubby is a black and tan handsome male 90-10 GSD. After having him here for some time now we think he may have some Rhodesian Ridgeback in him. We know there is something of a mix there but with his temperament, we overlooked that... since he looks like a GSD in all areas but his tail. He is in great health but super underweight! With a temperament like his, he fits in any family with kids or other pets.. He is dog friendly and likes cats and smaller dogs. He likes people and attention and seeks it out consistently with everyone. Stubby had his tail docked (cut off) as a puppy.... for some unknown reason and by some unknown person.
He was picked up as a street dump 8/20 in the center of the state and brought to the shelter where he had been for over a week when we got him. He arrived here 9/7, just in time to see the Giants game which he requested being a Giants fan of course. His disappointment at their loss was visible on his face when his photos were taken. On Tuesday Sept 3rd he will have the big snip...Ouch. He has great erect ears, a beautiful black saddle and wants to please you. He as had almost no training but he is responsive to praise and rewards and can be quickly brought up to speed. He weighs in at about 60 pounds and is still growing but needs to gain 15-20 pounds. His fur is in good shape and he is HW Negative. As stated, we do believe that Stubbiy has something else in him, but whatever that is, it is also sweet and even though he may be a slight mix, he is a fabulous pet. We know he will be a great and reliable pet, companion and he is a super dog to place with kids.
If you are looking for a great young male 90/10GSD, Stubby is your main man.... short on tail but long on love.
Update. He is getting better by the day. Stubby is beginning to learn his basics.
