SASHA NEEDS A HOME AND FAMILY
WE WERE INFORMED THAT THE OWNER REHOMED SASHA Sasha came here today 7/15/13 as our 31st GSD of 2013. He is currently living with his family but he is going to be given up. Sasha did have a issue with another dog, unprovoked, which is the basis for his being surrendered. Sasha is a large big boned 105 pound neutered Black and tan, male GSD. He has been search and rescue trained and he has gone through obedience training. He responds well to all commands and loves to play ball and to run. He is in excellent health, heart worm Neg and he has all shots.
Sasha is protective of his mom but because of his insecurity about her, he has now emerged at 2.5 years old as the alpha, which is totally unacceptable. Sasha needs an owner who is willing to put the training into him to establish himself as alpha to the dog and to provide this active engaged dog with structure and focus so as to avoid his need to be in charge. Both Diane and I believe in this dog. He is social with people and not at all aggressive. He currently lives with a small dog and two teenage girls. We do not recommend him for a family with small kids or to a family who does not have the time needed to get him trained. He has a definite high play and prey drive and can be successful at most any training with the right trainer and the right time frame. If you are interested, please call for an appointment at 941 575 0243.

Written by her owner:

Helo Erik and Diane,
Thank you for your time today meeting Sasha and talking with me about his future. I am writing to you with a heavy heart and have to keep wiping away my tears, I feel like I am losing a child.
I see that you have already posted a profile and some photos of him on your site, thank you.
Sasha was born 1/26/2011 on a farm in Sarasota with 5 littermates. I do have an AKC litter certificate with his Sire and Dam information, I never sent in his AKC registration. He was seen by Janina Krajewski, DVM on 3/10/11and I believe I brought him home when he was 7 weeks old. I took him to Bright Cross Animal Clinic in Venice on 4/9/11 when he was 2 1/2 months old to get his puppy shots and full exam (I do have the receipts and vaccination certificate). He was neutered at 6-8 months and has had an annual check-up and vaccinations since. He is on Trifexis and never had any health issues.
Sasha and I did obedience training when he was about 9-10 months old with K-9 Einsteins as recommended by my vet, he did very well then, but has always wanted to bark at other dogs. He used to go to dog parks and the dog beach when he was a puppy, but has shown some aggression towards other dogs, so I haven't been putting him that kind of environment. He also trained with Peace River Search & Rescue where he did very well with commands, but again showed some aggression toward other dogs. I am not sure if he feels the need to protect me or if this is just his personality. He seems to respect men more than women when it comes to discipline. I try to walk him everyday using a prong collar because he wants to chase squirrels and cats, and when he sees another dog, he acts like he wants to fight. I can control him, but he is very strong and I have to redirect his attention. He is much better behaved with my boyfriend, but he is not always around to walk him.
