RAMPAGE HAS BEEN RETURNED TO SUN COAST HUMANE
We have decided to temporarily remove him from adoptable dogs as we have some conflicting reports on his current status and temperament. We do not have Rampage here, he is residing at the SUN COAST shelter. HE IS NOT A RAMPAGE TYPE DOG BUT A FINE HEALTHY GSD. DON'T LET THE NAME THROW YOU! He was an owner turn in and since we were full, he has remained in the shelter where he is being well treated and cared for. THIS AFTERNOON 5/13/14 HE WAS RETURNED TO SUN COAST BECAUSE THE OWNER NO LONGER WANTED HIM. THERE WAS NO REASON SINCE HE IS A GOOD BOY OTHER THAN HIS NEW ROOMMATE DIDN'T WANT A GSD.
THIS WAS HIS ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION BACK IN MAY 2013:
Rampage, is in no way a 'rampaging' pup but rather a dog missing his family and wanting to be re-homed.
He is a stellar looking, gentle, 4 year old black and tan male GSD weighing in at about 80 pounds. He was well treated and never abused but was surrendered by his owner because they chose not to take him to their new residence. guess they thought he was disposable? He was originally purchased from a breeder who in turn refused to accept his return there either. Very reputable? He is still un-neutered, but will be fixed before he is adopted and his shots will be updated and current. He is Heart Worm negative and micro chipped.
Rampage is trained and reportedly housebroken. He knows basic commands such as sit, lay down, shake and he is responsive to leadership and treat training.
Owner states that Rampage is crate trained. When outside for potty time, he is walked in a fenced yard on a leash. He does pull on the leash when being walked.... training may have helped there, but the new owner can quickly take care of that with a class at the Peace River Dog Fanciers Club, which would be mandatory. He will chase cars if he gets out of the yard. When left home alone he was left free roaming and non-destructive. He can be crated but must have a chew bone to keep him busy. He has lived with men women and children from the age of 1 year old and up. He was reported to love kids and loves to play. He does not jump on the kids but will jump to greet adults. He loves his bath and loves to play in water. It is a good idea to have metal bowls because if he does get out of the fence banging the bowels together will call him back. He can be crated at bed time but also likes to sleep outside the kids bedrooms.
We cannot verify these statements but he seems like a sweet dog.
We do know that he had a seizure (we believe because he was totally stressed when he was surrendered) and had never had one in the past nor a repeat over these last 5 days. Stress of being abandoned can do that the former owners should have tested that themselves!
We are helping the shelter find him a placement so please call us if you are looking for a dog like Rampage.
UPDATE: 5/3/13. We just finished adopting Rampage out to a great family. We know he will have a super life! But wait, the new owners were forced to surrender Rampage due to personal issues with work and we were able to seamlessly re-home him for adoption 22 for 2013.
