SHEBA IS IN A NEW HOME Sheba arrived yesterday 3/7/13 in a weakened condition from a severe cold. She has been treated at AWL and is responding beautifully to drugs and lots of TLC. She has now eating and will be on meds for a few weeks to get rid of her URI. She will not be placed in foster care but will remain at AWL until she is well enough to come to our home to recuperate and will become available in a 3 week period appx 3/21/13. If you think Sheba would be a great dog for your family, give us a call and let us know.
Some particulars about her: She is about 3yars old. She was never abused but dumped near Tampa. She is definitely friendly with people and dogs. She is housebroken and only pees and poos outside. She had had some training and walks well on a leash. She is calm and submissive. She is 20 pounds underweight at about 50#'s now but should be 70 pounds for her size by the time she is ready to go home. She is black and tan with a nice saddle. Her fur will improve with good nutrition which she will be getting over the nest weeks. Once she comes back to the our home she will get her rabies shot and be spade and ready to go to a new family. This is the kind of dog that just wants to be near you. She would be great with any family young or old and she will make a super lifelong friend.
Update: 11 Mar 13. I saw Sheba today for the first time in 2 days and she was unbelievably bright eyed and ready to go! She gained a few pounds and was completely hydrated. She took a short trip to a local Vet, as our vet was off today, to get some antibiotics. Dr Mark DeGroves kind enough to get her the meds she needed an for that we thank him! He told us what a wonderful job AWL did in bringing this girl back to life. All of that credit goes to Dr Lovinia Tulcan(our shelter Doctor and Vicky our vet tech) I cannot express how much their collective efforts along with Brenda and all the AWL staff, did in this case. Quite frankly, they work their magic in every case we bring to them. They are indeed wonderful people. Since Sheba was given 2 more days to live when we got her, she has made an unbelievable recovery! She will be over her URI in a few more days and then by next week or so be ready to get fixed and then go to a new home. As of Thursday she will probably no longer be contagious so if you want a calm female GSD, this is the one to pick. She is tremendous with dogs and people and just lives to be loved and petted. She deserves a great home and we aim to find just that. If you think you qualify, please call!
WHOOPEE!!!!! Sheba was adopted today by a great family and she will have a Golden (also rescued) for a brother! This was truly a success story if there was ever one... from deaths door to a great new home and a super couple. That's why we do this.
We feel Sheba will be spade this week 3/18 and should be available by Friday! Whoopee.
