BEAUTIFUL SHAYNA NEEDS A NEW HOME
We got Shayna in yesterday 9/22 from Sarasota. She is a beautiful red/tan and black female GSD weighing in at abut 65#'s. She has a defined saddle, perfect ears, great fur and color. Shayna was spade on Tuesday and available for a local adoption (in the 941 or 239 area codes only). The reason for this restriction is that she is Heart Worm Positive and will be treated at the AWL in 20 days (10/15), so a local adopter is preferable based on having to bring her there for the series of 2 shots require to get rid of the worms. Once she is medicated she will be on light duty for 4 weeks time AND SHE WILL BE CURED AND LIVE A WHOLE LIFE. We would not recommend running her or hard play during this recuperation period of 4 weeks.
Shayna is a very calm dog. She is create trained and willingly goes to her 'house' for meals and for rest. She is not at all reactive to other dogs o cats. She loves people and cannot get close enough to you. She is extremely affectionate and will sit and be petted for as long as your arms will hold out. She is not above sitting in your lap at any time. She comes when called to my voice because and she does recognize that her name is now Shayna. She like it so we are keeping it, unless the new owner wants to change it. She learned to swim today and loves to play ball. She returns it promptly and can't wait for another toss. She is about 15 pounds underweight but she will fill out quickly. She has gained 3 pounds this week. She runs and plays with the other dogs in our pack when we bring her outside, but inside she is just as calm as possible. Shayna was a street stray and probably a dog dump after delivering puppies. (I will bet they were really cute). She did have puppies and was probably then dumped on the streets when the litter was sold. She was picked up by animal control in Sarasota County and then brought here. She seems to be somewhat trained and comes and sits on your foot when you call and she knows some hand signals and commands. She does seem to be housebroken but she will not have modified house privileges for another few weeks. We have tested her with our cats and she did fine. She did not seem reactive when Marvin Mouse walked by her crate but now they drink out of the same bowl at the same time. She is crate trained and goes in willingly. She also eats in her crate. Shayna is a toy collector and goes to the dog toy box daily for anothe ball or squeaker. She is fitting in here perfectly and we are confident she willfit into any household.
We are looking for a family to take her that wants a calm sweet dog as a family pet. She needs lots of love and affection and we feel it would be preferable, but not absolute, that someone be there for her most of the time so she can bond. She is perfect in her crate for 4 hours with no issues.
If Shayna fits what your family wants in a gsd then please give me a call at 941 575 0243.
