THE THIRD DOG OF OUR THREE DOG NIGHT IS JAKE

JAKE FOUND A GREAT NEW HOME AND FAMILY

We are happy to report that Jake has found a great new mom and family.  There are times when a dog picks his owner and visa versa... but in this case Jake picked Lynn and they have begun a bond that will surely last a lifetime.  When Lynn first came here with her 2 daughters she saw Jake for the first time and they had a chance to play with him and connect in the yard.  When Lynn came back a second time to see him, Jake remembered her and responded in a way that only love can dictate.  He came over to her and made it obvious to all of us that he chose her as his new Mom.  In the coming week or so Lynn has come a few times and each time the bond grew.  Lynn will be adopting Jake this weekend and Jake, Diane and I could not be more pleased.

In September 2011 animal control raided an illegal puppy mill in LaBelle, FL. There were over 268 dogs present. The owner operated an illegal breeding facility and had these animals taken from him. We were called about some of the GSD's or almost GSD's that were on site. At that time we were full but went anyway to see what we could do to help. Diane saw these three dogs and determined that they were salvageable, but many were not. There were numerous shelters present and most moved bus loads of dogs to their facilities. We took these three because they were sweet tempered, some what trained, good with people, not dog agressive, did not respond negatively to this intervention and were taking it all in. They were transported to our shelter at the AWL.

JAKE is the last dog in our doggy trifecta. He was the only male we took. He is definately a shepherd mix with probably a husky, but very gentle and affectionate. Jake is about 70# and is basically a silver and black (almost) GSD. He has high energy and high play drive. He is somewhat trained and very responsive to treats and praise.  His markings are quite nice and is disposition even better. Once Jake is goomed he will be a spectacular looking dog with longer fur than is usual for GSD's.  Jake is some what trained and house broken as he was confiscated from an owner. He is about 1.5 years old, not much more, and still has a puppy way about him. He is treat motivated and wants human attention and affection. He would be a great dog to train in most anything as he just is a sponge to learn.  He would fit most any family, loves to play with kids, but would work well in any family with or without kids. He wants his own home!,  He is dog and people friendly, and not at all confontational with other barking dogs. He was totally passive in the shelter which is a great sign of a mentally stable dog.  Jake is neutered and available now!
