DUCHESS WILL BE LEAVING US TODAY FOR HER NEW FAMILY
In these past 3 weeks I have come to know Duchess as a tremendous dog. She is loving, polite, responsive and eager to please. I knew when I met her for the first time she was all of these things. I felt horrible when she had to go into hospital isolation for 3 weeks because of a URI and worried about her as I tend to do everyday. When She was finally release she was down, her fur was lackluster and she was depressed. After just a day or so of TLC she perked up (as dogs will do when they are loved) and began to emerge as the great girl she is. She is now trained to use the doggy dog, she is housebroken, eats well, has tremendous red and black fur and is healthy and most of all happy. She is going home today and I will miss her couch cuddles and the time we spent together each day. I am truly happy she wil have a great new forever home.
4 weeks ago animal control raided an illegal puppy mill in LaBelle, FL. There were over 268 dogs present. The owner operated an illegal breeding facility and had these animals taken from him. We were called about some of the GSD's or almost GSD's that were on site. At that time we were full but went anyway to see what we could do to help. Diane saw these three dogs and determined that they were salvageable, but many were not. There were numerous shelters present and most moved bus loads of dogs to their facilities. We took these three because they were sweet tempered, some what trained, good with people, not dog agressive, did not respond negatively to this intervention and were taking it all in. They were transported to our shelter at the AWL.
DUCHESS is a simply beautiful red and black pure GSD that was used for breeding. She is extremely social, eager to please, some what trained, gentle, responsive to treats and praise and seems to have been housebroken. She has had puppies. She really likes being around people and seeks out attention. She is excellent with other dogs and we will be testing her on cats. She is about 1.5 years old maximum and she is HW Negative. She just arrived at our home this afternoon 10/18/11 and she is available now for adoption. Duchess needs to gain about 10 pounds but will weigh about 65#'s at that time. She is going to be groomed today after her bath. If you are interedted in a perfectly sweet and great dog call us for an interview at 941 575 0243.
