A LETTER FROM HEIDI TO SW FL GSD RESCUE

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hoffer,

Thanks so much for letting me stay with you for a short time and thanks for placing me in my new home. I love it here.

My new owner is good and loving. And my grandparents are so kind and gentle. I love the attention I get and I love taking care of them. It’s my job to check up on them, see what they’re up to, and greet them several times a day.

The real treat, though, is my brother Ted. Even though he’s acting the part of the “big brother” and sometimes trying to ignore me, I know he’s glad I’m here. I follow him everywhere, nip at his face, bark at him … anything to get him to play!

My new family tells me they like how gentle I am, what marvelous manners I have, and how gorgeous I am. With my fluffy feet and my ruff, my grandmother thinks I must be part lion.

I’m learning so much so fast. From my mom I’m learning to heel, lie down, stay, speak and no speak, wait, stop, drink, dog dinner, retrieve, drop, leave it … more than I can remember. And from Ted I’m learning about squirrels, birds, bugs, guarding the house, toys, treats, muffins, cookies, chicken, quiche, bbq, and (yuck!) green beans, which is Ted’s favorite food. Ted doesn’t go in the pool, but I love to sit on the step and just relax. He likes to stand in the rain, and I don’t get that at all.

So life is good. And I thank you again for giving me the path to my new life in Sarasota.

Affectionately,
Heidi (formerly Belle)
