IO HAS A NEW HOME AND FAMILY
IO is scheduled to come here on
Friday 12/16/2016. He is currently being fostered in Bradenton. He is a
handsome black and tan neutered male GSD. He was turned in by his
owner who wrote the following description of him:
IO
IO is a
loving and fun dog that loves to be around people. He is coming from a
great home. IO enjoys any opportunity to run and would do well in a
fenced in back yard. IO is great around people and he loves long walks.
We have learned from the few days we have been with him that he is dog
reactive. This means that simply he needs socialization and can be
turned around with the right handler. Our first re-homing of him, just 4
days ago proved that the handler must be assertive enough to establish
an alpha condition that will get his angst with other dogs under
control. IO is up to date on all his shots. He is also neutered. IO
would do well in a home that does not have cats or other dogs. He was
not reported, nor did we see him being aggressive with other dogs but he
gets very excited around them in a playful way that needs monitoring.
The
prior owner wrote: My German Shepherd is 5 years old and his name is
IO. I adopted IO from the manatee county humane society two months ago
(Oct 2016) because I thought at the time that I would be able to handle
and train him. Over the last two months I am realizing that this dog
requires more then I can give him. IO has severe separation anxiety
which makes it really hard for him to be left alone. I work full time
and I believe this is depressing to him. IO also just wants to run, but I
live by a very busy street and do not have a fenced in yard so I cannot
let him do this. He has so much energy and my house I feel is too small
for him. I just want the best home for him.
From what he said
this dog would be best placed in a home with a family who would be there
most of the time otherwise he would probably be crated. Since I have
not met the dog (until this Friday) am am personally unsure of his level
of training, socialization or temperament. i do however fee strongly
that the owner is being very accurate and that IO will transition well
into a new home where he can have the freedom to be a dog again. Any
adoption through us does require a 6 week training course so please be
sure that if you have an interest that you are able to get into a class
immediately in one of our 5 training schools or if you are out of the
area, into a socialization class of your choosing. Better photos Friday.
He weighs about 80 pounds and he is HW Neg, neutered and chipped and
in excellent health.
