MILES HAS A NEW FAMILY
MILES came into the rescue on 1/23/23 from a street stray in the Redlands. The area in South Miami that people dump dogs is notorious for dog packs of abandon animals. In this case, Miles met a great gal who was passing thru and attached himself to her and didn’t let go. His soft eyes, calm personality and demeanor won her over and she had him jump into her car and heart and take him home. He was advertised and checked for a chip with no reply and no i.d. she called me. Miles was named because he surely traveled miles to meet his person (or at least the person who saved him) and he is now in foster with us. He is super dog friendly and housebroken. He is about 4 years old, extremely smart and learns quickly. I know this because he bent my fence gate to get out of the yard and ran down the street (back last year in Jan ’23). When I saw him, I called his new name and he made a mad dash back to me. He is a 85 pound dark sable. His fur is perfect which indicated that he was in a home and then dumped. He has no parasites and has been well cared for during this last year He was neutered and tested for hw and he was negative when he arrived and continues to be neg.
The saga continued here in 2024. Miles was adopted by a lady who has had him for over a year ()since Jan ’23). Her health suddenly took a turn for the worst. She has CPD and her doctor advised her to rehome Miles. We are now searching for a home for him. He was trained by his owner and knows all basic commands. He walks perfectly on a leash. He is remarkable with people and dog friendly. He goes with us to the Boys and Girls Club in Pt Charlotte to be petted by 90 kids. He is a chill dog but loves to play. He hasn’t had a lot of exercise since his owner is now incapable of that. He is a handsome well behaved and loveable dog. His home is currently with a small dog and a cat. he loves them as part of his pack. He bonds quickly and would make a fabulous companion.

UP TO DATE WITH MILES: Miles is coming back into the rescue and available for adoption. His story is so important to us and to his owner, that I will explain why he is being returned.
Miles was adopted a bit over 2 years ago and is now about 5+ ish. He is a 100 pound dark sable neutered male. He was trained and received his service dog credentials and worked for 2 years as a service dog.. He was used for walking support, lifting, balance and for companionship with a person who had these issues. He has performed perfectly and was his constant companion. The person now is hospitalized with medical issues and can no longer care for him. His wife has all she can do to care for him and Miles is just not getting the exercise he needs with her out of the home regularly. Miles is super people friendly and dog friendly but needs his key words spoke to enable him to be interested in anyone other than his master. Once he gets permission, he is a lap dog. If you have a need for a service dog, Miles may be a great solution. Please contact me directly before applying for him.
